Aside from a few great pieces - like lace dresses, leather leggings, chunky Fair Isle knits, pleated mid-length skirts and the odd velvet - fall and winter dressing is rather boring. You're so constrained by weather-related practicalities that getting dressed feels like a chore.
1. Raincoat
As I approach my 30th birthday, I'm happy to report that I've finally reached a level of maturity where I accept that, as someone who lives in the UK, I need a raincoat. I think waterproof clothing is usually crass and boring, but Stutterheim has a lovely range of raincoats for men and women. Gorgeous colors, flattering cuts and their jackets are made from recycled materials.
2. flat ankle boots
I have a few pairs of Joules flat winter boots and I love them so much. They're all at least two or three years old now, and they've aged beautifully (I can totally vouch for the quality). Plus the fun design details - like the popular animal print across the back of the boot or the metallic leather - make them feel special. I always receive lots of compliments when I wear my pairs.
- Gh quality tights
I try to walk bare-legged as much as possible because tights have zero appeal to me. However, since discovering the Heist tights last winter, I do find the overall legging experience much more enjoyable. Heist tights don't have corner gusset panels, which means they don't sag or start to sag every 20 minutes. They're also made of super strong yarn, so they're much more durable than regular tights - making them a more sustainable option.
4. "Rain cap"
I don't like umbrellas. They never manage to keep me dry because they usually fly around in the wind. And it's annoying to carry them around all day. So, if it's not pouring, I'll try to wear a hat. Years ago, Monica and I started calling the hats we wore when it was raining fur outside "rain hats" and the name stuck!
5.Fleece lined hoodie
When it's cold outside, all I want to do is wrap my body in layers of wool. But wool isn't fashionable, let's get real! It feels great, but it looks awful. However, I think I found a great solution ......Sweaty Betty This fleece-lined hoodie is so cozy, but it looks like a regular luxury athleisure outfit. The berry color is my favorite color because you can easily wear it outside the gym. For example, it would look great with leather leggings and a camel coat.
6. Snow boots
I don't think I've ever been excited about snow boots before. But a few weeks ago, my friend Wendy from ThankFifi shared these FitFlop boots on Instagram Stories and I was instantly hooked. I never want a snow day, that's for sure. But if I had a pair of these boots on hand, I'd be happy to go out in a snowstorm. They look practical, comfortable, and not at all offensive to the eyes!
7. Vest with padding
I always start the weekend with a Saturday morning yoga class. For the past four weeks, my yoga teacher has come in wearing a thick knit shirt plus a padded vest. It's fantastic! If you can find an undershirt that's slightly cinched at the waist - or has some cool design details - you're onto a winner because it looks super chic. I love this hooded design from Uniqlo ......
