4 Steps to Creating a Pleasant Outdoor Space

We all really like to spend more time in the garden. But actually creating an environment that we want to spend time in can be a challenge. It needs to feel right in order to make it worthwhile. Fortunately, the concept of outdoor living has come a long way in the last few years. Now it's easier than ever to create a space you'll love. Simply follow these steps.

Step 1: Organize your privacy

Why don't you use your outdoor garden space? Maybe privacy is the issue. Neighbors can overlook your garden and listen to your conversations - not something you want. Therefore, addressing privacy issues should be your top priority. But how do you do it? You have several strategies available to you. The first is to add privacy screens. These are usually a little higher than a regular fence and allow you to create your own private oasis. If you're not keen on the idea of privacy screens, you can also try using lattices or something similar, or have a professional install them or do it yourself.

Step 2: Adding Features

You want to spend more time in the garden, but if it doesn't provide you with the features you want, you won't use it. Start by getting some garden loungers with comfy cushions to hold you up. Then add other elements to make outdoor living more enjoyable. Ideas include: umbrellas loungers dining tables suitable for family gatherings fire pits outdoor heating solutions, such as infrared heaters

3 Steps: Set the mood

However, simply adding functionality is usually not enough to get you into the garden. The space also needs to provide a different atmosphere from the interior. Otherwise, there is little point in using it. How you set the mood depends a lot on personal choice. Many enthusiastic homeowners like to add outdoor elements such as planters, paving stones and fairy lights. If you plan to use your outdoor space at night, you can dramatically change the mood by adjusting the lighting. Pure white light is fine, but you may also want to experiment with greens, purples and other fun colors that work best in your foliage.

Step 4: Add greenery

While your garden may already be filled with greenery, it's also important to include it directly in your outdoor seating space to make them feel more welcoming. Sometimes, for example, decks and patios can feel a bit sparse and inorganic. Yes - they're attractive. But you can always improve them by adding more plants. When adding plants to an outdoor seating area, try increasing the verticality.

Start at ground level with potted plants and shrubs of varying heights. Then look for ways to increase the height of the space. There are various ways to do this. If you have a suitable wall, you can plant creepers and eventually create a beautiful green backdrop. Or, if you don't have the time, you can create a vertical garden by stacking hooks on the wall and then inserting planters into them. Patios and decks can feel a bit sparse
